CFE-BDD-BA. Ely MALTBY, b. Apr. 14, 1874 (Richard 7, Almon 6, Grove 5,
Jos.4, Jos.3, Dan.2, Wm.1). m. July 5, 1894, Lena DENIS. Res. 221
N.D. Street, Cheboygan, Michigan.
Note. This must be Dorothy, b. 1904. Mrs. COUPAL, 2421 Lyons
Ave., Lansing, Mich., gives this record of "Dorothy, b. 1904", in letter
Dec. 30, 1952. Mr. F.A.MOLBY of Baldwin, Kansas, met at Lansing, Mich.,
some ladies whose father was Ely MALTBY, and his father was Richard.
This Richard had a brother Henry MALTBY "who had a son Allen. They left
Cheboygan region of Michigan. The older ones had been about Oakland
Co. and Lansing years ago."
Hazel (MALTBY) TURBIN (Mrs. Howard TURBIN) and Mrs. Dorothy (MALTBY)
COUPAL state: "Father Ely MALTBY was born 1875. He invented the Oldsmobile, which was manufactured in Lansing and is now a part of the
General Motors Corporation. Ely named a son Richard." (From here the
generations appear to be mixed--she says "and had a daughter Pearl who
has two sons in Detroit, Charles SWARTOUT, 14556 Crosley St., Detroit,
and Lloyd Swartout, 3469 Euald Circle, Tool and Die maker. Richard's
wife's name was Briton--a full blooded German woman." My notes give
Pearl as sister of Ely.
